Who are you and what is your role at EncompaaS?

I’m Shimron, more commonly known as Shim, and I’m the Customer Enablement Lead at EncompaaS. My role involves aligning relevant capabilities in our platform to meet diverse challenges for our customers in Australia and globally.

How did you get into this role?

I worked in the software industry for many years, with a focus on information management for the past few years. Before joining EncompaaS, I had the opportunity to work in a large NSW government agency’s information & records management team, which provided insights into the challenges they face. This experience reshaped my perspective on the industry. When the opportunity at EncompaaS arose, I felt it was the perfect time to work with more businesses, having a better understanding of their day-to-day challenges.

What are you excited about for the future, either professionally or personally?

I’m very excited about the evolving use of Large Language Models, OpenAI, and Machine Learning in our industry. These technologies have the potential to revolutionise information management and effectively harness the power of big data more effectively. It feels different than a release of a new feature or product, as it can scale to meet multiple customer needs, so I’m really excited to see how that changes the way we look at information management and I’d be happy to have this interview in five years and look back and see how much of an impact it ultimately had.

In your own words, what problems does EncompaaS solve?

The key problems we solve at EncompaaS are quite diverse to list, but by allowing customers to really understand the information they have, no matter what it is, where it is, or what perspectives may be important to customers at any point in time. With the fast-paced changes in technology and the complex questions that are constantly arising, we provide clear and quick access to information, enabling customers to navigate, ask, and answer the complex questions of their data effectively.

What’s it like working at EncompaaS?

Working at EncompaaS is a remarkable experience. The first thing I noticed is how many exceptionally intelligent individuals work here. The culture promotes open-mindedness and encourages innovation. So, when you show up to a meeting, you need to be prepared. Your colleagues are going to come up with smart ideas and suggestions and you really want to bring your A game and pay close attention to everything that is said.

What hobbies or interests do you have?

My primary hobby is music. I’ve been making music since I was 7 years old when my parents bought me my first guitar. Playing different instruments and having an opportunity to play live in front of people gives me great pleasure. Whenever I am invited by other musicians to play live with them somewhere, I jump on the opportunity to load all the heavy equipment, get in the car, and drive like I was still a teenager with all the gear, even if it means packing up at 1:00 AM!

How do you explain your job to your parents?

My parents are in their 80s, so I like to keep it simple when explaining my job to them! I mostly just say I work in information technology, but focus on the fact that I love what I and consider myself very lucky, without going into too much detail on the numerous challenges our industry is faced with every day.
